Abk. für Nuclear Energy Agency. 1. Begriff: Kernenergie-Agentur der OECD, gegründet am 1.2.1958 von den Mitgliedern der OEEC, Sitz Paris.
- 2. Mitglieder: Sämtliche OECD-Mitgliedstaaten mit Ausnahme von Neuseeland.
- 3. Struktur: Lenkungsausschuss (Steering Committee) und Sekretariat bei der OECD. Die NEA arbeitet eng mit der ⇡ IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) sowie mit der Europäischen Kommission zusammen.
- 4. Ziele: Förderung und Entwicklung der Kernenergie zu friedlichen Zwecken durch Errichtung gemeinsamer technischer und industrieller Anlagen, Harmonisierung und Rationalisierung nationaler Forschungs- und Investitionsprogramme, wissenschaftlich technischer Erfahrungsaustausch; Zusammenarbeit auf dem Gebiet der technischen Ausbildung, Liberalisierung des internationalen Handels mit Kernbrennstoffen. Ferner erarbeitet die NEA Sicherheits- und Gesundheitsvorschriften und entwarf u.a. Konventionen über nukleare Haftpflicht (1968) und Sicherheitskontrolle (1957).
